Cinque Terre is one of the most breathtaking coastal destinations in Italy, located along the border between Tuscany and Liguria. The name “Cinque Terre,” meaning “Five Lands,” refers to the five picturesque villages perched dramatically along the cliffs overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Ligurian Sea. This extraordinary area, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its colorful villages, spectacular landscapes, terraced vineyards, and authentic Italian charm. Your experience will begin at approximately 8:00 AM, when our English-speaking driver will pick you up directly from your hotel. Traveling comfortably along the highway toward La Spezia, you will enjoy beautiful panoramic views along the way. On clear days, it is possible to admire the famous Carrara Marble Quarries, renowned worldwide for producing some of the finest marble ever used in art and architecture, including masterpieces by Michelangelo. Upon arrival in Riomaggiore, the first and southernmost village of Cinque Terre, you may choose how to continue your journey through the five villages: either by the charming local train or by the small ferry that connects the coastal towns. Whenever weather conditions allow, we highly recommend traveling by ferry, as the view from the sea offers the most spectacular perspective of these enchanting villages, dramatically built into the cliffs above the water. Seeing the colorful houses, tiny harbors, and rugged coastline from the sea creates an unforgettable experience and provides extraordinary photo opportunities. Alternatively, traveling by train is also a convenient and fascinating option. Since Cinque Terre is a mountainous coastal area, the railway passes through numerous tunnels carved into the rock, connecting the villages quickly and efficiently while still offering glimpses of the stunning coastline between stops. At the end of your visit, your driver will meet you at the final village and comfortably escort you back to Florence, with the return journey taking approximately two hours.
